APS Core Training Now On-Line
The five core training courses required for APS Users are now available on-line. The training can be found on the APS web site.
IMCA-CAT has robotics systems for automated sample mounting, centering, and screening on both the insertion device (17-ID) and bending magnet (17-BM) beam lines. The ACTOR robots (from Rigaku/MSC) are fully operational and available to all users.
Mail-In & Remote Data Collection for IMCA Member Companies
Thanks to the groundbreaking strides IMCA-CAT has made in the arena of automated data collection, mail-in & remote access data collection are available to IMCA-CAT member companies. To take advantage of either offering register on-line in advance of your scheduled beam time via the IMCA-CAT BeamTime Manager (BTM). This BTM is accessible via the link "IMCA User" on the schedule page for each beam line. If you have questions on the registration process please contact the IMCA-CAT Coordinator, Ann Bertling.
IMCA Board Meeting
The next IMCA Supervisory Board Meeting will be held on Monday, January 25th in bldg. 435/C010. The IMCA Supervisory Board will hold an Executive Session on Tuesday, January 26th at the Guest House. Please contact the IMCA-CAT Board Chair for more information regarding the Executive Session.
APS Preparing to Roll Out New Beamline Scheduling Application
The Advanced Photon Source (APS) is preparing to roll out a new beamline scheduling application. This application is in the pilot phase and is expected to be rolled out to APS Users and Beamline Adminsitrators for Run 2010-1. For more information on this application contact Susan Strausser in the APS User Office at 630.252.9090.
Upgrade Underway
IMCA has committed to upgrading its Insertion Device Beam Line (17-ID). The beamline is currently undergoing commissioning studies and with the arrival of a Pilatus 6M detector in early 2010, IMCA-CAT will have further cemented it's reputation as the premier high-throughput synchrotron facility beam line for conducting cutting edge, highly automated protein crystallography.
