A data disk is a hard drive used to store the data you collect at IMCA-CAT so that you can take your data home with you when you're done.

We support drives which connect via: USB2, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, and eSATA. We DO NOT support USB3 or eSATAP (ie, powered eSATA).

We recommend using 7200rpm drives, though it is not required.

The following are tested and known to work well on IMCA-CAT workstations:

LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk (eSATA 3Gb/s, USB2.0, FireWire 400 & 800)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Seagate FreeAgent Go drives are known to have problems with Linux. We strongly discourage the use of any Seagate FreeAgent Go drives at IMCA-CAT!
